Week 13-15
I saw God
Big Plans
I named this compiled CPJ "I saw God" because the amount of things I got done felt like it could not have happened unless a God was watching over me. As I planned out the work I had to do, I could only pray magic is real.
Deciding on presenting all the oracles
Last week at the discussion with Andreas, I thought it would be a good idea to focus my table on the meme oracle. But, after some deliberation and going back into my past processes, I decided it would only make the project whole if I presented all of them. So, I decided to string them together as a series of speculative oracles that I learnt from.
1. Refining Websites and Documentation
I knew I needed the websites to be more easy for interaction, and also presentable for better documentation of the systems I had created. Especially for the first oracle that remained in my p5.js sketch. I had also done physical documentations that I pieced together to demonstrate the oracles.
Jiao Bei 2.0
Renamed as Jiao Bei 2.0, the website gives the user new ways to use the system of jiaobei. It can be used as a reflective tool, or just to enable your bad decisions.
Noise Oracle
The Noise Oracle, now upgraded with a camera, is a live oracle that users can bring a sentimental object (jewellery, a plant, a watch) to tell give them guidance.
Memesis of an AI Oracle
The meme oracle was documented with 6 friends and pieced together into a supercut of responses.
2. Merlin's Video
Realising that the clips I had last week were either too long-winded or vague, I re-wrote a script that takes place over 3 acts for "Merlin's Existential Crisis" – to explain the journey of the oracles through...well, Merlin's existential crisis.
Part of the script
I also unfortunately ran out of time to go to the studio, so I set up at home! It turned out okay.
Setup
Me
I had to do a few rounds of edits to really tighten the content as I wrote a little too much and it was getting a little long-winded.
3. The Book
Instead of a dump of information in my book, I wanted to document and share what I've learnt through stories. So, I wrote some short essays covering topics like rituals, data server blessings, and AI Gods. The second half of the book covers the process of my speculative oracles.
I opted for a thinner paper as I had quite a lot of pages. The cover is then bound over it to cover up the staple marks.
Sometimes I write about the Internet
And also my oracles
4. The Catalogue
I kept the catalogue quite simple, explaining minimally about some visual processes. For ease of viewing, I included the titles below for the user to skip to the right page.
5. Presentation Slides
I then planned my storytelling for the presentation through the slides. This was a good opportunity for me to refresh what I've learnt and how I got to where I was. It was actually quite cathartic.

That's All!
I think that's all my stuff documented! If I've missed anything out, it was probably decided by the stars. I'm a little too tired to do a full reflection now, but I'm feeling very thankful to have been able to explore this story through computational design. I stepped out of my comfort zone and... I think I liked it (still deciding)!
