Experiment 2: Pixel Oracle

  • Mind Map for Pixel Oracle

Upon drawing this mind map, I was able to see why I felt like there was nothing much I could draw out of this project. The attempt at building a divinatory process from scratch meant that it was removed from any prior recognisable practice, which made it quite confusing to use as a divinatory tool. I think that is why I didn't know how to have conversations around this tool.

Random Noise Generation

Random Noise Recognition

HOWEVER, I realise think the strength in this now was my attempt at finding meaning through randomness found in the methods I used — random generation of the noise images, and machine learning to make sense of the randomness of the noise images.I think its mostly a funny image to have a computer try to make sense out of almost unintelligible noise that it generated itself. Perhaps moving forward, the conversation should thus centre around the absurdity of the randomness, rather than trying to use it as an actual divinatory process.

Experiment 3: Memesis of an AI Oracle

Memesis of an AI Oracle - Venn Diagram

When I was creating the Meme Oracle, I had already done the research that led me to the activity. However, I hadn't actually properly sat down to make sense of it. So, this venn diagram allowed me to make it clearer to myself.

Creating this process chart (below) then allowed me to identify better where and how much I involve myself in the interpretive processes of the activity. I think this is something important for me to consider when I create future experiences, as it will greatly affect how the audience learns about the topic.
